Piyush Sharma has a Master’s degree in Urban Policy and Governance (Medalist) from the School of Habitat Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He graduated in Commerce from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights and Duties. He is deeply interested in the ‘Urban’ as a space and issues around Forced Migration and Refugee Rights, a subject he pursued in his Master’s thesis titled ‘Making Home in Exile: A Case of the Refugee-Citizens of Dhasa’, an ethnographic case of the Tibetan refugee community living in ‘exile’ in Dharamshala. He was also awarded the ‘State Award for exceptional contribution in the field of Social Service’ for U.T. Chandigarh at the Independence Day Parade on 15th August 2019 by the then Punjab Governor and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore.
